Refugee Voices of The Pacific Northwest

At Pacific County Immigrant Support, our work is focused specifically on assisting individuals and families impacted by brutal kidnappings, detentions and deportations facilitated by ICE.

Our remote corner of the world is not unique, however. The Pacific Northwest and Washington state in particular are host to large refugee communities from around the world. We can be many things – haven and home, a place for new friendships and new customs – or a fragile, temporary “state of fear.”

In Refugee Voices of The Pacific Northwest, writer Dori Cahn gives voice to “stories of healing, loss and resilience.” Discover the life experiences of refugees from Somalia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, the Soviet Union and Mexico.

The blog is a project of the Somali Family Safety Task Force which serves refugee and immigrant families in South Seattle.
